Woad Cottage - Stoke Knapp Farm

Woad Cottage sits at Stoke Knapp Farm in Stoke Abbott, near Beaminster, in a group of restored early 19th-century dairy cow sheds and a milking parlour. The Wessex Ridgeway long-distance path runs through the farm, close to the door. It sleeps four.

Parking is off road for 2 cars. From there you walk across the shared courtyard garden and down steps to the private entrance. The living space is open plan, with a vaulted ceiling, exposed stonework, a wood burner, a Smart TV and a hand-built kitchen with an electric oven and hob, a microwave, a dishwasher and a Smeg fridge. Travel cot and highchair can be provided.

The two bedrooms are at opposite ends of the cottage. One is a king-size room with a bespoke bed and an en-suite shower room. The other is a twin with an en-suite bathroom, which has a freestanding bath and a separate shower. That layout works for two couples or friends sharing. A patio at the front is screened from the neighbouring property and has a table and chairs.

The shared courtyard above is fully enclosed and landscaped, with changes of level, so children and dogs need care, and dogs must be on leads there. Guests can use a shared laundry room. The farm entrance has CCTV, which protects equipment and livestock. One dog is welcome; additional charges may apply. Steps lead to the cottage and the courtyard, so it does not suit guests who cannot manage steps. The pub is 1 mile away, the shop 3 miles and the beach 8 miles. The cottage can be booked with Well Cottage, which sleeps a further two guests.
