The Sherborne Castle Country Fair and Rare Breeds Show fills the castle grounds beside the lake for a day in late spring. The 2026 fair ran from 9.30am to 5pm on Monday 25 May, and the 2027 date has not been announced yet.
It is a family day built around stands, demonstrations and activities, with one of the largest standalone rare breed shows in the country as its centrepiece. Many of the entertainments are included in the entry price rather than charged separately.
The fair is run by volunteers as a not-for-profit company. It started in 1996 to raise money for local charities, particularly those helping children and young people, and has raised more than £1.3 million so far.
