30 Sherborne Lane

30 Sherborne Lane is a small 200-year-old cottage in one of the oldest parts of Lyme Regis, entered through a blue wooden door. It sleeps three. The sitting area has a woodburning stove, although logs are not provided, and an archway leads through to the kitchen/diner, which has an electric oven, a gas hob, a microwave and a fridge with ice box. Gas central heating is fitted, and fuel, power, bed linen and towels are included in the rent.

The two bedrooms are a double, with its own basin and a view over the town, and a single. The bathroom has a bath with a shower over it. A welcome pack waits on arrival, and the cottage has a TV, DVD and CD players, a radio, WiFi and a selection of books. There is no washing machine.

Getting here takes some care. The cottage stands on a steep, narrow lane with no vehicular access, the staircase is narrow, steep and twisting, and some ceilings are low, so it may not suit anyone with mobility issues. Stairgates will not fit the staircase, though there is a door at the bottom of the stairs. Parking is one permit for the Woodmead car park on Hill Road, with no allocated space.

At the back, a raised garden with a patio, furniture and shrubs looks over the town. The shop and the pub are each 0.2 miles away and the beach is 0.7 miles. Pets and smoking are not allowed, and a good-housekeeping bond is payable. It suits a couple or a small family who can manage a steep lane and a winding staircase.
