Anchor Cottage

Anchor Cottage is a Portland Stone house dating from the 1800s, in Weston on the Isle of Portland. The Portland page covers the island as a whole. Downstairs, the living/dining room has a gas flame-effect stove and a dining table for five, and the kitchen leads off it with a gas hob, an electric oven, a microwave, a fridge, a freezer, a washer/dryer and a dishwasher.

Three bedrooms are upstairs: a double, a twin and a single. Together they sleep five. The only bathroom is on the ground floor, with a bath, a walk-in shower, a basin, a WC and underfloor heating, so anyone sleeping upstairs comes down the stairs at night.

At the back, an enclosed garden has a lawn, furniture and a barbecue. Two cars fit in the off-road parking. Gas central heating is fitted, there is a TV with Freeview and a DVD player, WiFi, and a selection of books and games, and fuel, power, bed linen and towels are included in the rent. The shop and pub are 0.1 mile away, the coast 0.8 miles and the beach 1.5 miles.

No pets or smoking are allowed, and a good-housekeeping bond is payable. In July and August the cottage takes seven-night bookings only, starting on a Friday. The cottage suits a family with children old enough to use the stairs and a single bathroom, who want a garden to eat in.
