Neptune Cottage

Neptune Cottage is a terraced fisherman's cottage, about 200 years old, in the Chiswell area of Portland, behind the sea wall, close to the beach. Wetsuit drying hooks and a hose are provided, and the National Sailing Academy, diving and windsurfing are all close.

The cottage rises over three floors. A ground-floor shower room, a kitchen with a dining area and a utility room are downstairs, with a step up to the kitchen and another to the utility area. The sitting room has a wood burning stove, and guests bring their own fuel for it. A first-floor bathroom has a bath with a shower over. The bedrooms are on the first and second floors, and there are two steps up to the first-floor double. The second-floor twin has a lower ceiling at the sides.

Three bedrooms sleep five. There is a dishwasher, a washer/dryer and a microwave, with a stairgate and a cot, and guests bring their own cot linen. There is no WiFi. Free parking for about 20 cars is in the council-owned area directly opposite, first come first served, with roadside parking nearby subject to space. A small rear patio yard has furniture. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome and smoking is not allowed. The pub is five minutes away and the shop ten. It suits a family of up to five, or water sports enthusiasts who want to be on the beach.
