Bay Tree Cottage - Charmouth

Bay Tree Cottage dates from about 1843 and stands on the High Street in Charmouth, with shops and pubs 100 metres away and the beach half a mile off. The South West Coast Path starts from the door. It sleeps five, and dogs are not allowed.

A courtyard of flowers and shrubs, with a bay tree, sits at the front. Inside, the living room has original floorboards, an open fire, a Smart TV, a DVD player, a sound system and a digital piano, along with a selection of books, games, DVDs and vinyl records. The open fire burns wood only, and the first basket of logs is provided from October to March, with more on sale nearby. The kitchen has a range cooker with a gas hob and electric ovens, a large fridge/freezer, a dishwasher, a microwave, a coffee machine and a larder, and the dining space beneath a glass roof opens to the garden. A utility room holds the washing machine and tumble dryer, plus a walk-in shower and WC.

A steep, winding, carpeted staircase leads to three bedrooms and the family bathroom with a bathtub, a handheld shower and a WC. The stairs may be unsuitable for guests with limited mobility. The bedrooms are a king-size, a king-size that also holds a 2ft 6in single, and a small double. A stairgate is provided.

The enclosed rear garden has a patio with lighting, a table and chairs, a small terrace with a sun lounger and a small lawn. Parking is on the street in front, which is unrestricted, and if it is full there is a dedicated space just across the road. The nearest EV charging point is a 22 kW fast charger 300 metres away. The cottage suits a family or a small group who want to walk to the village, the beach and the pubs.
