Bell Cottage - Beaminster

Bell Cottage is in the market town of Beaminster, with a shop and a pub 150m away. You come in through a porch and hall, where there is space for coats and muddy boots, and straight into the lounge. Two guests can stay.

The lounge has a flagstone floor, a Smart TV and a wood burner in a large, beamed inglenook. The first basket of logs is included from the start of October to the end of April, but kindling and firelighters are not provided. The open-plan kitchen and dining room has an oak floor and worktops, an electric oven, a gas hob, a microwave, a fridge and a dishwasher, and French doors to the garden. The freezer is in the under-stairs cupboard.

Quirky cottage-style stairs lead up to the bedroom, which has a super-king-size bed and reduced-height eaves, and the shower room with a walk-in shower and a WC. The stairs need care. The southwest-facing walled garden has a limestone paved terrace, a lawn, seating and a variety of plants and shrubs.

Parking is not at the cottage: roadside parking on the lane is subject to availability, and a long-stay pay and display car park is about 200m away. One small dog is allowed, up to cocker spaniel size, and additional charges may apply. The beach is 7 miles away. The cottage suits a couple, with a small dog if wanted, who can do without a drive of their own.
