Brock Cottage - Dorset

Brock Cottage is a detached, thatched cottage dating from the 16th century, in the hamlet of Higher Wraxall, near Maiden Newton and Bridport. It stands beside a small country lane that forms part of national cycle route 26. The side entrance leads into a dining room, with a step up into the country-style kitchen, and past a utility area and a compact shower room to the lounge at the back. The lounge has an open fire, with the first basket of logs included, and a Smart TV, and it looks over the garden.

A winding staircase from the dining room rises to the first floor, where a generous landing has space for work or study, and there are two double bedrooms, a single bedroom and the bathroom with a power shower. A pull-out single bed can be added on request, which brings the cottage up to its capacity of six. The kitchen has an electric range-style cooker, a microwave, a dishwasher, a fridge and a freezer, and a washer and a separate dryer. A highchair, a travel cot and a stairgate are available.

Double doors from the lounge lead down steps to the lawn. The patio is enclosed, with garden furniture and an electric BBQ, but the lawn areas around it and the small brook at the bottom cannot be fenced, so keep an eye on small children and dogs. A dog stake is available for the lawn. Three cars can park off-road, and secure bicycle storage is available on request. The shop and pub are 3 miles away, and the beach is 9 miles.

Three dogs are allowed, with an extra charge. The cottage suits a family or a group of friends who want an open fire, a patio for the dogs and country lanes for walking and cycling.
