Bubbs Cottage

Bubbs Cottage is a thatched cottage in Chaldon Herring, a village in Dorset's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with a church and a pub that serves food. It sits in a valley inland of the coast, about 1.5 miles away on foot, and Ringstead is on the coast nearby. Winfrith Newburgh is 1.3 miles away.

Downstairs, a country-style kitchen with a tiled floor has a utility room close by, holding a fridge and a washing machine, and there is a dryer and a dishwasher. The sitting room has a beam overhead and an electric fire, and the snug has two armchairs, a selection of books and French windows onto the garden. Upstairs, the double bedroom has a Velux window, a TV and a wardrobe, and the twin has a sloping ceiling and a view over the front garden. The beams are low and the stairs are steep and low, so mind your head on the way up. The bathroom has a bath and a handheld shower, and a cloakroom has a WC.

The rear garden has a patio and furniture, and the front garden has a lawn, gravel and another patio. There is ample private parking on the gated rear gravel driveway. The pub is 0.2 miles away and the nearest shop 1.5 miles. Fuel, power, bed linen and towels are included. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome, and smoking is not allowed. There is no mobile signal at the cottage, but superfast broadband means calls can be made over WiFi.

Children under five cannot stay, because the cottage has no stairgates and is not child-friendly. Stays run for a minimum of four nights, or seven in August, with a Saturday changeover, and a good-housekeeping bond is payable. The cottage suits two couples or friends travelling with dogs, or a family with children aged five or over.
