Captains House

Captains House is a 19th-century house overlooking the bay at Lyme Regis, with tiles lining the outside of its first floor. It sleeps nine in five bedrooms, and every one has its own en-suite. Three are on the ground floor: a king-size, a twin with roof beams and a window seat, and a single. The two first-floor bedrooms are both king-size, one with a bath in its en-suite and the other with a walk-in shower.

There are two sitting areas. The ground-floor one has French windows onto the patio, and the larger room upstairs has views of the sea and a woodburning stove. The kitchen/diner has an electric oven, a gas hob, a microwave, a fridge/freezer, a dishwasher and a washer/dryer, and the house has a television, a DVD player and WiFi. Heating is gas, with fuel, power, bed linen and towels all in the rent. A welcome hamper waits on arrival, and a good-housekeeping bond is payable.

Outside there is an enclosed garden with a courtyard, furniture and a balcony. The balcony is reached by steps and a small gate, and it stands about 8 feet above the beach, so children need supervising on it. Parking is for one car in a private car park, allocated to the house and a short walk away. The house is close to the Cobb, where there may be occasional late-night events. Both the pub and the shop are 0.1 miles away.

Dogs and other pets are not accepted, and smoking is not permitted. The house suits a large family or two groups of friends who want an en-suite each, and parking for a single car.
