Coombe Orchard

Coombe Orchard is a stone-built, self-contained annexe on the outskirts of Swanage, arranged entirely on one level for two guests. An entrance hall leads past a small utility area into the open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting space, and the bedroom opens off that room. The bed is a king-size, and the bathroom has a corner bath with a shower over it.

The kitchen has a combination oven and microwave, a fridge and a hob with two rings only, so it suits simple cooking rather than big meals. A TV, a DVD player and WiFi are provided, gas central heating is fitted, and fuel, power, bed linen and towels are included. A cot can be provided on request, though guests must bring their own cot linen.

Outside, a lawned garden has furniture for eating and drinking in the sun; it is not enclosed. Off-road parking is on a gravelled drive. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome, and smoking is not allowed. A shop and two pubs, the Kings' Arms and the Royal Oak, are within a 15-minute walk. Bookings of more than 14 nights are not accepted.

It suits a couple with a dog who want a ground-level base for a short break on the Isle of Purbeck.
