Geodesic Dome - The Hideaway

The Hideaway is a geodesic dome for two adults, set in a separate meadow field, fenced and hedged for privacy, on a holiday park at Whitchurch Canonicorum. Three other adults-only glamping units share the field, and the park around it is family friendly, so sound can travel. Children are not accepted, and neither are dogs.

A small hallway has room for boots and coats, then the main room opens up under large triangular windows. A wood burner stands in the corner beside a sofa, with two bags of logs included and further bags charged extra. The king-size bed is the centre of the room, and there is a table and chairs. The dome has a WC, but the shower is a private room in the shared barn less than 50 metres away.

On the raised deck there is a choice of seating, a fire pit/BBQ, a swing chair, a private hot tub and an outdoor kitchenette with a small fridge and tea and coffee facilities. The shared barn has a kitchen with an electric oven, hob, fridge/freezer, washing machine and a coin-operated tumble dryer, which three other glamping units also use. There is no Wi-Fi. Parking for one car is beside the dome.

The park covers 55 acres and includes a games barn with a pool table and table tennis. Two deep, unfenced ponds allow fishing with a rod licence and a fishing pass. It is a Dark Sky site, so bring a torch and sensible footwear, and the site asks for no excessive outside noise after 10pm. The shop is 3 miles away, the pub 2.5 miles and the beach 5 miles, so the dome suits two adults who want quiet and a hot tub.
