Lower Pound Farm

Lower Pound Farm is a detached house at the end of its own private driveway in Monkton Wyld, Dorset, close to the Devon border. It sleeps nine in four bedrooms. The beaches at Lyme Regis and Charmouth are 5 miles away, and the shop and pub are within 2 miles. The house has views across the valley and down towards the sea.

Two bedrooms are on the ground floor: a double, reached from the lounge by four steps, and a triple with three single beds, whose fireplace holds a wood burner that does not work. Two more doubles are upstairs. The ground floor has a shower room with WC, and the first-floor bathroom has a shower over the bath and underfloor heating. Because of the age of the house, some rooms and areas are reached by steps, including three steps up from the hall into the kitchen and a step down into the lounge.

The kitchen has an electric double oven, gas hob, fridge, freezer, microwave, washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher. In the lounge a wood burner sits in the inglenook, with the first basket of logs provided and more available from the owner. The gardens are terraced and bordered by natural hedgerows, with a sloping lawn, an orchard and a patio with a charcoal BBQ, a table and seating. The house has internet access, central heating, a cot and a high chair (cot bedding and towels for babies are not supplied), and a private water supply. Parking is off the road.

Check-in is from 5pm and check-out by 10am. Two dogs are allowed, and additional charges may apply. Stag and hen parties are not permitted. The house suits a large family, or two families sharing, who are happy with a few steps and want a garden and a wood burner.
