Maple House

Maple House stands on a 15.5-hectare estate of lakes and nature reserve at Crossways, near Dorchester and close to Warmwell, with the Jurassic Coast 6 miles away. Dual-aspect patio doors in the living room look across the adjacent lake to woodland. An eight-seater dining table sits in front of one window, the kitchen has a central island, and a wood burner supplied with a first basket of logs warms the sofas.

On the ground floor are a utility room with a washing machine, a shower room and a double bedroom with a door leading outside. Upstairs are a super-king-size bedroom with an en-suite shower room, a twin, and a bunk room that works well for children, along with a family bathroom with a shower over the bath. The kitchen has a built-in oven, an induction hob, a microwave and a fridge/freezer, and a Smart TV is in the lounge.

A wraparound decked area has seating, lake views and a BBQ, and a lawn alongside gives children room to run about. Parking is for one car at the property, with more in the on-site main car park. A restaurant and private beach are on site, the shop is 0.5 miles away and the pub is 1.5 miles. The shared facilities include a 25-metre heated outdoor pool, a cold-water swimming lake, a sauna and a tennis court, and water sports hire runs from May to October. Pool and spa access is payable on arrival, and a refundable damage deposit is payable the week before arrival.

Quiet hours apply after 11pm, and hen and stag parties and work-related stays are not allowed. No dogs are allowed. The house suits a family or friends of up to eight who want a ground-floor bedroom as well as a view across the lake.
