Old Monmouth

Old Monmouth is thought to be one of the oldest houses in the centre of Lyme Regis. It has a sitting room with a feature fireplace and a drawing room with a woodburning stove, and the kitchen/diner and utility room are on the lower ground floor along with a cloakroom. Appliances include two washing machines, a tumble dryer, two dishwashers, a fridge/freezer and a second fridge. There are five TVs and WiFi, and gas central heating. Fuel and power, bed linen and towels are included in the rent.

Seven bedrooms sleep 13. Two doubles and two king-size rooms each have an en-suite with a walk-in shower, and a ground-floor king-size has its own en-suite too. A twin completes the main bedrooms, and a single bed in a room reached by a door from one of the doubles takes the total to 13. A bathroom with a bath, a basin and a WC serves the house, a highchair is available, and logs for the fire and stove are not provided.

Three well-behaved dogs are welcome, and the owner asks that every pet wears a flea collar throughout the stay. The stairs are steep and narrow because of the age of the building, and stairgates do not fit. One parking permit for Woodmead Halls car park, a 5-minute walk away, comes with the booking for 2026 only, and none is provided from 2027. Other vehicles use the public car parks a short walk away, subject to availability. A good-housekeeping bond is payable, and smoking is not allowed.

A shop is 0.2 miles away and a pub 0.1 miles. It suits a large family or a group of friends, with dogs, who are happy with steep stairs.
