Sika

Sika is a single-room hut on the 1,000-acre estate around the 400-year-old Warmwell House, in Warmwell. A couple of steps lead up to the door. Inside are a double bed, a kitchenette, a table and storage. The hut sleeps two, and it does not accept children.

It is a basic set-up, and the details matter before you book. Lights run on solar power and are to be used sparingly. Cooking is on a gas camping stove with utensils provided, and an extra-large cool box with ice packs is supplied. A basin and standpipe supply running water that is not for drinking unless boiled. A woodburner is supplied with logs, kindling and matches, and there are towels and bedding with goose-down duvets.

Washing is in a separate private bathroom hut alongside, with a gas-powered shower and a composting/camping WC. Outside you will find Adirondack armchairs, garden furniture, a hammock, a fire bowl and barbecue tools. Footpaths, woodland and heathland start on the estate, and the tennis court can be used by arrangement if you bring your own racquets, balls and rubber-soled trainers. Books, local maps, a Roberts radio, a torch and board games are provided. Parking is for one car.

Broadmayne, with a shop and a pub, is 1.8 miles away. No pets, smoking, or hen and stag parties are allowed. Sika can be booked together with the hut Fallow and with Warmwell Lodge. It suits a couple who are happy with simple facilities and want to be outdoors.
