Snowdrop - Dorset

Snowdrop is a yurt for four, pitched in a secluded field at the back of a former dairy farm and looking out over paddocks. Hares, foxes and many kinds of bird are regular visitors. Shaftesbury is three miles away, and Gillingham, six miles off, has a mainline station and supermarkets. Stourhead is 12 miles away, and Longleat, the Haynes Motor Museum and Stonehenge are within 28 miles.

The yurt is one room with a double wrought-iron bed and two single day beds in a Victorian style, in white linen. Electricity in the yurt supplies lights and device charging. The wood-burning stove is the main source of warmth and logs are provided, while a one-ring induction hob looks after hot drinks. The owner can arrange two folding beds and a travel cot if asked.

The Old Haybarn is on site. It has a lockable shower room for you alone, with a walk-in shower, a WC and underfloor heating. The shared kitchen there has an electric oven and hob and a microwave, and a fridge and cupboards are set aside for your use. Guests share a communal dining and lounge area with toys, games and a TV, as well as a games room with table tennis and a pool table.

By the yurt, there is a table and benches, a parasol, a barbecue, a drinking water tap and a fire pit that is yours alone. Children can use the play area, which has wooden equipment, wendy houses and a trampoline, and the site is enclosed. The pub is 1.8 miles away and the shop 3.8 miles. There is off-road parking for one car, and CCTV covers the entrance and the outside of the camping grounds. Check-in is from 15:00. It suits a couple who want a quiet field, or a family of four. Dogs are not allowed.
