Stubbs Bridge Woodland - Hazel Hut

Hazel Hut is a shepherd's hut for two in private woodland at Monkton Wyld, within reach of Lyme Regis and Charmouth. A long shared drive, unmade and bumpy in places, leads to it. That drive is occasionally shared with the owners' other shepherd's hut, and it may not suit low-riding sports cars. From the hut, the pub is 3 miles away, the beach is 3 miles and the nearest shop is 5 miles.

Wooden steps climb up into a studio-style room with a double bed on the left, space for meals opposite and a wood burner. Logs are included and come from the surrounding woodland. The kitchen corner has a combination microwave, hob and oven and a mini fridge, and a door at one end leads to a compact shower room with a WC. Because of the rural location, Wi-Fi comes through a dongle that is provided, and guests are welcome to stream TV on their own devices.

Outside is a private gravel terrace with a picnic bench, deckchairs, a firepit and a charcoal BBQ. There is one off-road parking space. One dog is allowed, with additional charges, and it must stay on a lead and under strict control outside because of neighbouring livestock. Babes in arms are welcome.

The hut suits a couple, with or without a dog, who want a secluded woodland setting and are content to drive for food and supplies.
