The Cheese House

The Cheese House is a listed farmhouse in the countryside near Charmouth, which is 3.8 miles away. The nearest shop and pub are 3.7 miles from the door and the beach 3.9 miles. It forms part of a former monastic grange dating back to the 15th century and was renovated in 2022.

A private entrance leads through a boot room to a kitchen/diner with a flagstone floor, and a couple of steps lead down through the utility room into the sitting room, where a woodburning stove sits in the original fireplace. Heating is by oil central heating, and fuel and power are included, as are bed linen and towels. There is a Smart TV and WiFi.

Four bedrooms sleep ten. The ground-floor king-size is next to a shower room, and the first floor has a second king-size, a family room with a double and a single, and a family room with three singles. A first-floor bathroom has a bath with a shower over. Because of the age of the building, the first floor has uneven floors, steps and areas of restricted head height.

The enclosed lawned garden is large and has picnic benches, and a games barn across the yard, shared with the attached property, holds two table tennis tables, a skittle alley and a medium-sized snooker table. Parking is off-road, and a highchair and travel cot are available on request. Three well-behaved pets are welcome; smoking is not, and a good-housekeeping bond is payable. The house suits one large family or two families travelling together who want games and a garden.
