The Old School Room is a Grade II listed former schoolroom on the owner's working beef farm at East Chelborough, right on the Somerset border and near Beaminster. It is laid out upside down. The double bedroom and the shower room are on the ground floor, and the first floor opens into one space holding the kitchen, dining area and sitting area under a beamed, vaulted ceiling.
The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, a microwave, a fridge and a washer/dryer. Night storage heaters provide the heating, and fuel and power are included in the rent, along with bed linen and towels. There is a TV with Freeview, a DVD player, a CD and radio, WiFi, and a selection of books and games. Mobile and WiFi signal can be intermittent. A travel cot and highchair are available on request.
Outside is a private patio at the front with furniture. The cottage stands right on National Cycle Way 26, there is bike storage, and walks start at the door, including Castle Hill, a small Iron Age earthwork. Off-road parking takes one car. Pets and smoking are not allowed. The shop and pub are both 2 miles away. The cottage works best for a couple who want a quiet farm stay and do not mind going upstairs to the living area.
