The Studio

The Studio is a detached stone cottage on the outskirts of Shaftesbury, 2.6 miles from the town. It sits in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with views across the Dorset hills from the door. The living space is one open-plan room holding the kitchen, a dining area and a sitting area.

The only bedroom is on the first floor, so it is reached by stairs. It has a king-size bed in a French style and a Juliet balcony facing the same hill views. A cot is available for a baby, though the cottage still sleeps two. The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, a microwave, a toaster, a kettle, a fridge and a dishwasher. The shower room has a shower, a basin and a WC. There is also a TV, wifi and a Bluetooth speaker, and fuel, power, bed linen and towels are included in the rent.

Outside, an enclosed gravel area at the front has furniture and tubs of plants, and the courtyard garden is private to the cottage. Parking for one vehicle is on the gravelled driveway behind the main house, followed by a short walk along the roadside pavement to the picket gate. The nearest pub is 2 miles away and the nearest shop is 2.6 miles away.

One well-behaved small dog is welcome, though it must stay off soft furniture and bedding. Smoking is not allowed and a good-housekeeping bond is payable. Stays need a minimum of three nights, with arrivals on a Friday or a Monday, and over Christmas and New Year 2026 Tuesday to Saturday bookings are also taken. It suits a couple with one vehicle who want a quiet country base.
