Well Cottage - Stoke Knapp Farm

Well Cottage is one of three dwellings made from early 19th-century dairy cow sheds and milking parlours at Stoke Knapp Farm, a working farm at Stoke Abbott, near Beaminster. It is named after the old well in the courtyard, which has a bespoke cover. The cottage is set up for two.

From the parking area you cross the shared courtyard and go down steps to a private door. Inside, the open-plan living space has a vaulted ceiling, exposed stonework, a wood burner, a Smart TV and a hand-built kitchen with an electric oven and hob, a microwave, a dishwasher and a Smeg fridge. A travel cot and highchair are available. The king-size bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with a freestanding bath, a walk-in shower and a WC.

The front patio is screened from the neighbouring property and has a table and chairs. Beyond it, steps lead up to the central courtyard, which is shared, enclosed and landscaped, with changes of level. Dogs must stay on leads there, and children need watching. A shared laundry room is available to guests. Parking is off road for 1 car. The farm entrance has CCTV, used for the security of equipment and livestock.

One dog is allowed, with additional charges that may apply. The steps to the cottage and the courtyard mean it does not suit anyone who cannot manage steps. The pub is 0.9 miles away, the shop 3 miles and the beach 8 miles. The cottage can be booked alongside Woad Cottage at the same farm, subject to availability. It suits a couple, with a dog if wanted.
