Whitegates Lodge

Whitegates Lodge is a modern conversion in Osmington, a link-detached building in grounds that it shares with the owner's own home. A gated gravel driveway runs to it from the village road, and the house is screened from that road, though some traffic noise may reach the garden or the rooms at times. Weymouth is a 5 mile drive away.

The main room combines kitchen, dining and living space, with two patio doors that step down to the garden. The kitchen has a fridge and freezer, a microwave, a dishwasher and a washing machine, and there is a smart TV, an iPod docking station and WiFi. Gas central heating is installed. Of the two bedrooms, one has a double bed and the other a pair of single beds. A shower room has a shower, basin and WC, and a cloakroom adds a second basin and WC.

Guests can use the front garden, which has a large lawn, and one patio door opens onto a gravelled area with a table and chairs. Two cars can be parked. The property takes a maximum of four people, and children must be over five years old. Smoking is banned across the lodge and its grounds, and electric car charging is not permitted. The lodge does not accept pets.

It suits two couples, or a couple with children older than five, who want an open-plan living space and a front lawn.
