Zig Zag

Zig Zag is a former stable turned lodge on the owner's smallholding, above Swanage. A single-track tarmac lane leads to it, followed by a short steep slope, and two steps go up to the French doors. A pub and a shop are within half a mile, all downhill, and the walk back is the other way.

Inside is one open-plan room with a vaulted ceiling, holding the kitchen, lounge and dining area on a single level. Floor-to-ceiling patio doors face the view. There is a Smart TV and an electric log burner, which gives a flame effect rather than a real fire. The kitchen has a hob, an oven, a fridge, a microwave, a dishwasher and a Nespresso pod machine, and an Alexa is provided.

The bedroom has a 5ft double bed and a compact en-suite shower room. The washing machine and freezer are not in the lodge but in a separate building, a small barn nearby. Outside are an area with seating and a terrace, and a BBQ is available. The owner keeps donkeys and other livestock on the land around it.

Short breaks are not available, no children can be accommodated and dogs are not allowed. Parking is off-road. The lodge suits a couple who want a quiet stay and don't mind a steep lane.
