Amy Cottage

Amy Cottage is a detached thatched cottage in the middle of West Lulworth, described as one of the village's first thatched homes and dating from around 1600. The ceilings are low, the walls are crooked and there are exposed beams throughout. You come in at the back through a utility room, where boots can be left before stepping down into the dining room.

Four bedrooms sleep six: two king-size rooms and a single up the stairs, plus a single on the ground floor. Off the kitchen are a shower room with a walk-in shower and a bathroom with a freestanding bath. The kitchen/diner has an electric range cooker, a dishwasher, a washing machine and a tumble dryer, and the sitting room has a gas fire and a smart TV with Netflix and Amazon, for which you need your own logins. There is no terrestrial television. All the bedding is linen, and bed linen, towels, fuel and power are included in the rent.

At the back, a terraced patio with a picnic table sits above the village roofs, and a gate leads straight onto the South West Coast Path. Parking is for one car in the designated space, and because the access is shared with the neighbour, reversing in is recommended. The village shop is 0.2 miles away and the pub 0.1 miles.

Three conditions matter before booking. Children under 10 cannot stay, because of the steps on the raised garden and inside the house. One well-behaved dog is welcome, smoking is not allowed, and a good-housekeeping bond is payable. It suits a group of adults or a family with older children who want to walk from the door.
