Swanage Driftwood

Swanage Driftwood is a detached house in Swanage, a few minutes from the beach, with five bedrooms and three bath or shower rooms. It is laid out upside down: the open-plan kitchen, dining and living room is on the first floor, with a Juliette balcony and a door from the landing onto a small terrace. Two steps lead down from the landing to the first-floor king-size bedroom.

The ground floor holds a king-size bedroom with an en-suite double shower and French doors onto a small south-facing patio, a twin room, and a family bathroom with a bath and hand shower. On the second floor are two twin rooms and a bathroom with a bath and shower over. The twin beds and that bathroom have limited head height, and the bathroom ceiling slopes, which matters for taller guests.

Between them the bedrooms have two king-size beds and six singles, and a cot, highchair and stair gates are available. A maximum of eight adults and two children is recommended for the ten places. The kitchen has a dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge and freezer. WiFi and gas central heating are provided, and fuel, power, bed linen and towels are included in the rent. A good-housekeeping bond is payable, and smoking is not allowed.

Two well-behaved dogs are welcome, but the courtyard is small, so they need exercising away from the house; the Downs are 2 minutes' walk away. On-road parking is subject to availability a short walk from the property, and the Pier long-stay car park on Broad Road works on a first-come basis, with fees. The house sits on a slight incline. It suits a large family, two smaller families travelling together or a group of friends, with a ground-floor king room as one of the options.
