Walnut

Walnut has two double bedrooms, one with an en-suite walk-in shower, plus a family room with a single bed and a bunk, so seven people can sleep on one level. Each bedroom has its own Freeview TV. The bathroom adds a whirlpool bath and a walk-in shower. The lodge is wood-clad and stands in Herston Yards Farm, on the outskirts of Swanage.

Cooking is done in an open-plan kitchen with a gas hob, an electric oven, a microwave, a fridge, a freezer and a dishwasher, and meals can be eaten at the breakfast bar or the dining table. The sitting area has a woodburning stove. The lodge has four TVs in all, a surround sound system, DVD and CD players, WiFi and gas central heating. Fuel, power, linen and towels are included in the rent.

A private hot tub sits on the enclosed decking, which has furniture. Seven-night lets from a Saturday are the rule through the school summer holidays, and short breaks in other months arrive on a Friday or Monday.

One well-behaved dog is welcome, parking is provided and smoking is not allowed. The park has a shop and The Old Mess Room, the pub is 0.1 miles away and the beach 1.3 miles. Walnut suits a family or group of friends of up to seven, particularly with a dog coming along.
